A short animation based on a badly-recalled retelling of the original Star Wars trilogy has won this year's Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge.

Star Wars: Retold was hand-picked by series creator George Lucas himself as the best of the bunch entered into Atom Films' annual competition, which celebrates all things Star Wars.

According to the film's creator Joseph Nicolosi, his friend Amanda had never seen a Star Wars film but claimed she already knew the plot. He recorded her telling her version of the trilogy, and created a humorous animation to go with it.

Unsurprisingly, her retelling veers wildly from what actually takes place on screen. For example, the first movie ends when Obi Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker hire 'Hans' Solo. Jabba the Hut is killed at the start of the second, during which the heroes meet Chewbacca and blow up the Death Star. In the third movie, Solo and Skywalker apparently kiss.
