William Shatner is heading back to Broadway for the first time in more than 50 years to launch his own one-man show.

The Star Trek actor was last seen on the New York stage in a 1961 production of A Shot in the Dark, and he will return this year with a show called Shatner's World: We Just Live in It.

A statement from producers reads, "The two-hour show will take audiences on a voyage through Shatner's life and career, from Shakespearean stage actor to internationally known icon and raconteur."

The 80 year old will begin previews of the production on 14 February at the Music Box Theatre in Manhattan.
