Police have cordoned off a central Wellington street and car park after a woman fell from a building this morning.
Detectives and a police photographer are at the scene on Bute St.
Though initially treating the fall as suspicious, police now say that is not believed to be the case.
The woman is in intensive care in a critical condition at Wellington Hospital.
A handbag, cardigan and some bottles are on the pavement, underneath the fire escape she fell from.
Bute St, a small road off SH1 Vivian St, has been cordoned off at one end.
