A woman has been rushed to hospital after she went into labour on Auckland's Southern Motorway this morning.
Sergeant Polyvius Stylianou was attending the scene of a collision when he was called away to help the pregnant woman, who was experiencing contractions three minutes apart.
Mr Stylianou was alerted to the incident by the woman's companion, who drove up next to him asking for urgent help.
The woman was transported to Middlemore Hospital.
