A 40-year-old Japanese fashion designer is the proud new holder of a hair raising world record.

Tokyo's Kazuhiro Watanabe flew into New York to show off the world's tallest mohawk and celebrate his inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Mr Watanabe has been growing his 1.13-metre-tall mohawk for 15 years.

The spiky do takes a stylist two hours, three cans of hairspray and one can of gel to get into shape.
