For $10 you can take a 1.5km journey in a heritage tram at Auckland's Wynyard Quarter - but is it value for money?

I personally think this is a bit hard on the tramway. The fare is reasonable for a visitor attraction, adults pay and kids go free. You can ride as many times as you want and explore the different environs at the four stops. I suppose that they can't please everyone's expectations. It has to be remembered that this is a commercial operation privately operated and not a preservation group with volunteer labour.

Crazy comments here - people seem to be missing the facts, as usual. The item on the Campbell programme only focused on negatives! Yes, there is incomplete construction, but equally there are good areas...C'MON guys, do a fair item. Also, it isn't a commuter tram...duh....It isn't sightseeing tram...duh...switch on the brains guys - it's history/heritage/fun We were on the trams last weekend, Mum & Dad & our 2 kids. Only the adults pay! A great experience. Plus the staff are fantastic. Our driver was called Hugh, he was incredible. Helping elderly on & off the tram, giving a commentary all the way...letting the kids help 'driving' the tram...just incredible...good on them Don't be so miserable Auckland...the area is under construction, but the staff there are outstanding in a difficult situation. Get over it & for goodness' sake support our great city. Bill

Canadian visitors will cringe if they ride this tram. After visiting Canada recently using public transport and travelling 35 minutes on a bus, then 20 min on a ferry to cross the harbour to downtown Vancouver on the same ticket which cost CAN$2.75

I went to have a look at Wynyard Quarter today and was completely shocked at how much it cost for a round the block trip. I told them I just wanted to do a loop and being the end of the day and having not many passengers they allowed me to jump on for $2.00 for a loop but i was not issued a ticket. It's a bit of a rip off I reckon for the ride. It was lovely by perhaps not worth my ten dollars

The new Wynyard Quarter is great, and the trams look lovely, but having ridden one of them for free on opening day, there's just no way it's worth $10.

I took they tram too and I was shocked by how unprepared it all seemed. Two passengers I spoke to compared it to the old Czechoslovkia and laughed out loud. For 50 metres of the journey you can see restaurants and then it gets worse and worse and worse - and you have to pay for it. Luckily they were laughing and not angry. I felt embarrased.

Until work is completed they should not be charging any money whatsoever. When I was on the tram this weekend the children enjoyed it but all the adults voiced their disappointment at the high price of it yet there was really nothing to see. An all day pass means nothing if there is nothing to see... and there isnt!
