The first version of The X Factor in New Zealand will travel to 27 locations in early 2013 to find contestants.

A pre-audition tour starts in Queenstown on January 5 and finishes in Kaitaia on Waitangi Day.

Contestants selected at the pre-auditions will then perform in front of the four judges and a live audience.

"I want to encourage anyone who thinks they have what it takes, but is too scared to give it a try, to get up and give it a go. You've got nothing to lose," said former Australian Idol winner Stan Walker, who is one of the judges.

The promoters have already announced that Dominic Bowden is hosting the talent show.

X Factor NZ will be co-produced by MediaWorks and FremantleMedia Australia. NZ on Air is also funding the show. It will screen on TV3.

Can you sing the same song for your pre-audition that you sing for the next audition?

Hey why bring a judge a.k.a Daniel from the UK who most New Zealanders know nothing of him? Why not source judges from kiwis who have being consistent through out the years...an which whom we know? NZ has many pop, rnb an others who have also had many hits on the charts....i.e young Sid capable of rising to the occasion. C'mon keep it home grown a little at least.
