Rodney Hide - perkbuster gone bad?

Rodney Hide has drawn criticism for a $25,000 taxpayer funded trip to London, Canada and the States. The trip was a supercity research trip signed off by the PM's office, but in using the 90 percent subsidy for partners and taking his girlfriend Louise Cromer has Hide gone against John Key's wishes that MPs should pay for their partners.

Politicians are not that well paid as people might think. They deserve some perks. In Rodney's case: hypocrite

Even if we accept there was no "wrong doing" in a legal sense, this money these politicians have used was crown money. If I had a debt to IRD that I was not to be penalised for (through hardship etc), I would be charged use of money interest anyway, and the rate is quite high! how these guys get that perk for free as well is beyond me. Every country I am sure has it's share of people bucking the system in some way or another, but this, if not criminal is still immoral, and they should have to pay not just the lot, but with interest.

Disgusting!!

It is nothing less than fraud. Am I able To take my partner on a trip and get my company to pay, no! If they found out would I have the opportunity to pay it back no!

I would be fired. It is fraud. All politicians should be fired should they be caught steeling from the pockets of all NZer's.

Cheers, Thomas

And politicians wonder why they consistently poll lower than used car salesmen in the most trusted people surveys. Wonder no more.

Here we have yet another example of the corruption of power - Hide started off as a crusader against the obvious rorts of a parliamentary life, but has since decided which side his bread is buttered, and joined the long line of pigs at the trough - isn't it said that politicians are like bananas - they go in green, come out yellow, and are crooked every step of the way? Bring back the MacGillicuddy Serious party, and we MIGHT get a few honest politicians!!!

Wow, how low can Mr Hide go. Does he really need the hard earned money of the tax payer to seal his girlfriends love? Be a man and Hide. Spend your you earned money and that what makes you a man if she worth that much to you.
Bad enough your wife/family whom you should be doing this for missed out. The people would understand if it was your family. Buying the love of a young woman twice your age, and only gives you a sugar daddy title. Mmmmmmm. Thats what you call cheating love because you did not spent your money on her. And politics no comment.Wait for next election.

They have their snouts caught in the troff. These paid holidays are not true expenses, they are income and thus Rodney Hide is guilty of TAX EVASION. What else could it be. If any plebiscite was to take a holiday and call it business the IRD would go after them. Rodney promised he would go after crime, "Tax Evasion" lets start there. National, Labour the Greens, they are all the same, when they get a little power, they are all drunk, after all they do call it a Political Party. Time for a change.

Rodney do you see the comments in here. Come on man, fork out the tax payers dosh. Its a matter of whether or not you get re-elected next elections, at all,or alternatively the entire party disappears of the radar screen forever with the MMP. Gosh if I was a smart one what choice would I make? LOL! Guess you're not smart enough.

Government business, absolute smoke screen, a holiday for a politican and his girlfriend at the taxpayers expense under the guise of a fact finding mission,so easy and so predictable.
There is no need to go off overseas for a fact finding mission when modern technology will help you with anything you need, so spare NZ the lies.
