Do movie trailers reveal too much?

To be honist im glad in a way some trailers may give away too much. I want to know what im paying for when i go see a movie, if the trailers are not specific enough im not gona see it.

Hollywood has no talent anymore, how would they know if they're ruining their crappy movies.

It's hollywood. Burning is rife so what's the issue. Long revealing trailer's is a spoiler for me but will not stop people from going to the big screen. Ain't nothing like the real thing, aye?yep

Of course they reveal too much BUT its up to the viewer to expect to see too much when they want to preview it! LOL.

I think they give far too much away at the moment - they need a real rethink. Tease me trailer people... tease me!

Tough question as some trailers get it spot on, but others can definitely ruin a film by spoiling too much. District 9 was an example of a brilliant trailer; enough intrigue but also shows just enough to get you interested.

Heaps of trailers do give away too much. In comedies they show you the main jokes, in horrors they show you the main kills, in a lot of drama and action they show you the whole plot, it's ridiculous! An example of this not happening and being awesome was the District 9 trailer, which had something that wasn't in the film, but was a great teaser for it. I know everything about LAW ABIDING CITIZEN without seeing it, simply thanks to the trailer. Another pet peeve is the strobe effect that heaps of trailers use nowadays, where you have to look away from the screen.
