3News - Poor Joseph. God was a hard act to follow.

Religious billboards - love them or loathe them?

The atheists want to do it on buses and St Matthews In The City have given the immaculate conception a racy twist. But does advertising about religious beliefs or lack thereof wind make you mad? Or do these ads get people talking about religion in a positive way?

So, Miriama, you know what's insulting to God and what is not, then? Presumably you know what God wants better than any old Anglican church. Religious advertising can be benign and thoughtful, as this one was, or offensive, as are the ones that induce children and adults alike to become morally stunted through an infantile threat of eternal torture. I have a feeling what kind of advertising you'd favour.

There are other groups of people that I dislike but I will never offend them. There are other theories that I don't subscribe, but I don't disrespect the people who believes in them. What a wonderful world this would be if we respect each other. Peace...

Simple answer... I loathe them!

The vandalism was a typical overeaction from Religious fanatics who apparently do not like the concept of freedom of speech. The Church wanted to provoke thought and discussion on the subject of what Christmas is really all about ( and no, it's not about some fat guy in a red suit )but these morons have decided they know better. Little wonder the Atheist's campaign has so much support.

Given the billboard was vandalised within hours of it being put up; I think the bus company that will carry the pro-atheist signage, will be feeling a tad nervous about carrying a similar controversial sign on there lovely shiny buses.

the billboard is an insult to God (the only true God) and to all christians ....so sad it had to come from a church too...should know better...

well this billboard has certainly achieved what it set out to do.... get us talking about the real reason for Christmas. The birth of our Saviour and not how much we should be wasting on christmas presents...

Typical media, no privacy at all. Joseph looks like hes saying 'oh no not again. And mary is looking up saying,'Somebody close those dam blinds , Amen

they look more comfortable, than on a park bench, somebody has tucked them in nice and cosy.

Life is full of issues that some will not agree to or like, with written media of these types you can be sure there will always be someone who will or could be offended, thats life!
You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. I would suggest that if this sort of media doesn't please, then those who are offended should look once and then cover their eyes.

Er. Am I reading correctly that someone thinks Mary and Joseph committed "Immaculate Conception" to give us Christ(mas)? Back to your collective lapsed Catholic theological studies: IC was for Mary's status as being un-stained by Original Sin.
