Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has been drafted in to replace Queens of the Stone Age star Joey Castillo on the band's new album.

Queens singer Josh Homme announced that his drummer had left the band during a BBC interview on Monday, and he revealed Grohl, who played drums on the group's 2002 album Songs for the Deaf, has been recruited.

It is not known if Grohl, who was Nirvana's drummer, will join the band on tour.
