Filmmaker Edgar Wright has announced his new film The World's End will premiere in New Zealand before anywhere else in the world - and that some of the cast and crew will be coming here themselves.
Okay NZ, you get your good news now. 'The World's End' opens July 18th in New Zealand. And we are coming over too! edgarwrighthere.com/2013/05/07/the…— edgarwright (@edgarwright) May 15, 2013
The film is the third instalment of Edgar Wright’s trilogy of comedies, following the successes Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. He co-wrote the film with Simon Pegg, who also stars in it alongside Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Rosamund Pike, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan.
On his official website, Wright lists several international release dates with New Zealand and Slovenia at the top of the list on July 18. Due to timezone differences, Kiwis will be seeing the film first.
Exactly who from the production is coming to New Zealand has not yet been announced.
July 18 is the same day the New Zealand International Film Festival launches in Auckland.
The World's End follows five childhood friends reuniting 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again.
As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realise the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's and reaching The World's End is the least of their worries. Watch the film's trailer here.
More details on the film's New Zealand premiere will be announced soon.
