Beware the hagfish - repeller of sharks

Friday 28 Oct 2011 6:50 p.m.

New Zealand scientists have released remarkable footage of the ancient hagfish as it repels a shark by excreting huge amounts of slime.

Researchers from Massey University and Te Papa have filmed the hagfish repelling different predators 14 times and wonder whether the slime can be synthesised.
