An Auckland mother will be sentenced today for causing a crash that killed her 12-year-old daughter.

Toni Ericksen tested positive for methamphetamine after the crash in July last year, which killed Bryer Rose Greenwood, and also injured Ericksen’s other daughter 8-year-old Gemma and a pregnant woman in another car.

Bryer Rose died in hospital from traumatic brain injuries following the crash just north of Helensville in July 2011.

Ericksen was also charged with two counts of injuring while under the influence of drugs, and one count of being an unlicensed driver.

While Ericksen initially pleaded not guilty, she admitted the charges in August.

The maximum penalty she could face for causing death while driving under the influence of drugs is five years jail, or a $20,000 fine.
