A woman is dead after being violently attacked in the suburb of Tawa, north of Wellington this morning.
The 33-year-old's body was found by family members at a house in Sunrise Boulevard, opposite Kindercare preschool.
Police have cordoned off the house and also a vehicle found at the nearby Takapu Road railway station.
They had to request a closure of the railway line for around ten minutes this morning during their investigation and scene examination of the car. Some train services were delayed.
Police are appealing for information from anyone travelling on trains between 7am and 8am who may have seen anything around a blue Toyota Corolla hatchback, registration number GMB108.
