Woman wakes to man stroking arm

Friday 1 Feb 2013 3:05 p.m.

A man has been arrested after a woman woke to find her arm being stroked by someone she didn't know at her Hutt Valley home.

He left the Waiwhetu house after being confronted and police arrested a 29-year-old man later.

Police say investigations revealed two other incidents that the man is believed to have been involved in earlier in the evening.

"In one of these incidents a victim was punched in the face after answering the door to the intruder, this was followed soon after by a female occupant being accosted in her home," Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper said.

The man has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of indecent assault and common assault and was due to appear in the Lower Hutt District Court on Friday.

More charges are likely.

Det Sen Sgt Cooper said police wanted to hear from anyone who may have been victim of similar incidents but had not reported them.
