Asset shares offer an insult – Harawira

Saturday 20 Oct 2012 2:11 p.m.

Iwi yet to settle their Treaty claims have been offered the chance to take shares in state-owned power companies that are to be part privatised.

It comes as the Government decides to press ahead with its asset sales plan, despite Maori claims to water rights.

The iwi leadership group says the Government has done the right thing in offering shares, but Mana Party leader Hone Harawira says it's an insult.

Mr Harawira talked to The Nation this morning – watch the video for the full interview.
