Mallard wants to see Key in court
Labour MP Trevor Mallard
ACC Minister Judith Collins' defamation case against two Labour MPs kicks off in the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday.
One of them, Trevor Mallard, has indicated he wants Prime Minister John Key to give evidence.
Ms Collins alleges Mr Mallard and Andrew Little accused her of leaking a confidential ACC email to the media during the Bronwyn Pullar affair.
She demanded an apology but they refused, and she's going ahead with a defamation action.
The case management conference will be held before Justice Geoffrey Venning on Wednesday.
Such conferences are generally not public.
Justice Venning and the lawyers will try to set a hearing schedule.
Mr Mallard says he wants the court schedule to be flexible enough to allow Mr Key to give evidence while Parliament is in recess, his spokesman told NZ Newswire.
