A resurgent Michael Campbell is once again New Zealand's top-ranked golfer.

The 43-year-old, who won the US Open in 2005, is now ranked 239 in the world after recapturing some of his best form over the last year.

Six months ago he was not in the world's top 900 players after making just two halfway cuts for the best part of a year.

Since then he has finished third at the Portugal Masters, eighth in Hong Kong, three other top-20 finishes and last week was in contention at the Qatar Masters before a final round 74 left him in a share of 16th.

He jumped from 264th in the world to claim the NZ No.1 spot form Danny Lee.

Campbell's best ranking was 13, in the year he won the US Open.

He is three spots ahead of Lee, who shared 13th place at the Sony Open in Hawaii to start the year.

Lee lost his card on the PGA Tour last year and will this year play on the Web.com Tour.

Michael Hendry, who backed up a strong finish to last year with a fourth place at the Heritage Classic in Melbourne on Sunday, is the third-best Kiwi, ranked 256th.
