New Zealand teenage golfer Lydia Ko has climbed nine places to a share of eighth place at the midway stage of the World Ladies Championship tournament in Japan.

The world No.1 ranked amateur shot a two-under 70 in her second round at the Japanese LPGA Tour event in Ibaraki to be two-under and five strokes behind leader Saiki Fujita of Japan.

Sixteen-year-old Ko has maintained her record of making the cut in all 16 professional tournaments she has contested.

She has won three of them, giving her a world ranking of 22.
