Mid-courter Madison Browne has swept the 2012 Australian Netball Awards in Melbourne, winning the coveted Liz Ellis Diamond plus player of the year awards in the ANZ Championship and International categories.

Browne became the first player since the inception of the Liz Ellis Diamond in 2008 to claim all three individual honours, which is recognition of a remarkable twelve months for the 24-year-old.

Browne also becomes just the second mid-courter to win the award, following national captain Natalie von Bertouch in 2010.

Runner-up for the Liz Ellis Diamond, Australian netball's highest individual honour, was Vixens teammate and defender Bianca Chatfield, who was recalled to the national team for the first time in two years.

Browne established herself as the country's premier wing attack in a stellar season with the Vixens, playing a significant role in guiding the Victorian franchise to the ANZ Championship grand final and appearing in eight of the nine Australia Test matches.

"Madison has been number one in terms of consistency this year, she's taken her game to a whole new level ... at both international and domestic levels," Australia coach Lisa Alexander said.

Browne's Melbourne mentor Julie Hoornweg took out the Coach of the Year Award after guiding the Vixens to their second trans-Tasman Championship grand final in four seasons.
