A maiden top-10 finish in the WRC Rally Poland has left Kiwi driver Hayden Paddon hungry for more.

Paddon and co-driver John Kennard ended their second World Rally Championship event eighth overall, after sitting seventh going into the final day.

Paddon was happy with the performance improvements his Hyundai Motorsport team had been able to implement over the four days in Mikolajki, north-east Poland.

"It's great to get to the end and to finish in the top 10 is certainly an added bonus," Paddon said.

"We've achieved all our goals this weekend and have made some really good gains."

Paddon says the rally delivered several challenges, including some very rough stages in Lithuania on Friday, and some changeable weather on the final stages.

"I learnt a lot about my driving and where I need to improve. On different stages I was trying some slightly different techniques, some which did and didn't work but this is all part of the learning process."

Paddon says his speed was good and the car was especially competitive on stages where the road was smooth and flowing although they were still losing time when the roads were more technical.

Paddon's next WRC event is Rally Finland in August, an event he's contested every year since 2010, and he is optimistic they can make improvements to the car's performance.
