The new Mega - what is it, and who's it for?

Monday 21 Jan 2013 10:57 a.m.

Internet tycoon Kim Dotcom has opened his new file storage service to the public with much fanfare.

The official launch party included a kapa haka group and a staged "raid" to mark one year since his dramatic arrest.

3 News reporter Jono Hutchison was there, and described the event as "surreal… though we shouldn't expect anything less from Kim Dotcom".

For his take on the launch, and a discussion on what type of customer the new Mega is hoping to attract, watch the video.
