Ian Thorpe talks to John Campbell
Ian Thorpe has won five Olympic gold medals, more than any other Australian.
He was the first person ever to win six gold medals at one world champs.
But as his new book reveals, Thorpe has often found life easier in the pool than outside it. Thorpe faced intense scrutiny, and what he calls a "crippling depression", which as a teenager he decided to keep secret.
John Campbell spoke to Ian Thorpe yesterday, and asked him what advice he'd give now to the brilliant but troubled young man who first swum to the world's attention, 15 years ago.
