Meet the Kiwis on the frontline of the Australian bushfires
Australia is in the middle of one of its worst bushfire seasons in years.
Fanned by record-breaking temperatures and huge winds, the blazes have destroyed farms, forests, homes and in some cases, whole towns.
Conditions have eased slightly in recent days, but there are still several hundred fires burning out of control.
For the firefighters trying to put them out, the task is huge – and dangerous.
One firefighter has already died and dozens have been seriously injured.
It’s also exhausting.
So who do you call when you need some help? Well, who else, but your trans-Tasman mates.
Tristram Clayton went to Tasmania to see how our Kiwi firefighters are helping out.
