Sunday: North Island, rain spreading to most places. Severe northwest gales possible about Wellington and the Wairarapa. South Island, rain along the West Coast, very heavy at times, with some brief falls spreading elsewhere. A period of severe north or northwest gales for many eastern and southern parts.
