Putin: I know when the world will end

Vladimir Putin, in his first news conference since once again becoming the president of Russia, has announced he knows when the world is going to end – and it's not today. Or tomorrow. Or even this millennium.

"I know when the end of the world will come," Putin told reporters. "It will be in 4.5 billion years approximately. As far as I remember, it is the system of the functioning of our sun."

He gave his views after being asked by a reporter why he scheduled the conference for December 20, one day before many believe the world will come to an end, reports UK paper The Telegraph.

But Putin didn't stop there, explaining just what will happen at the end of the sun's life.

"Everything will end and the reactor will go out – that will be the end of the world. But before that it will turn into a small white dwarf."

He said he wasn't afraid, because it was "inevitable".
